“Kitchen services” isn't one job - it covers several genuinely different pieces of work, and knowing which one applies to you before you ask for a quote saves a lot of back-and-forth. Some homeowners want a full strip-out and rebuild: new layout, new cabinetry, new worktops, new plumbing and electrics, all in one project. Others like their existing layout and just want tired doors and drawer fronts sprayed back to a factory finish, or a stained laminate worktop swapped for stone without touching anything else. This page sets out the distinct services we offer, separately or together, so you can see what actually applies to your kitchen before booking a design consultation.Whichever combination you need, it's handled by the same in-house team and the same project manager, not passed between different specialist companies for each part. If you already know you want a full rebuild rather than one of the smaller services below, our kitchen design page walks through that process in more depth; if you're not sure yet, the breakdown below should make it clearer.

The Services We Actually Offer, and What's Included in Each

  • Full kitchen design, supply and installation - a new layout, cabinetry, worktops, plumbing, electrics, tiling and plastering delivered as one project from an empty room to a finished kitchen
  • Bespoke cabinetry and custom joinery outside the kitchen itself - fitted wardrobes, home offices and staircases built to the same made-to-measure standard as our kitchen units
  • Worktop supply and fitting on its own - laser templating and on-site cutting of granite, marble, quartz, Dekton, Corian, Minerva or laminate, fitted onto your existing cabinets without a full replacement
  • Kitchen spraying and respraying - airless spraying with dust-free extraction to refinish existing timber or laminate doors, drawer fronts and end panels in a colour-matched finish, where the units themselves are still structurally sound
  • Interior woodwork spraying and external uPVC door and window respraying, using the same spray equipment and finish process as the kitchen respray service
  • Project management as the constant across all of the above - one point of contact and one written quotation, whether it's a two-day respray or an eight-week full rebuild

Not Included / Costed Separately

  • Structural work such as knocking through or moving load-bearing walls, which applies mainly to full rebuilds - it's flagged at design stage but priced and arranged separately with proper building control sign-off
  • Re-plumbing sinks, taps or waste pipes on a worktop-only job, unless your existing fittings don't match the new material's cutout requirements - that's identified and costed at the templating visit, not assumed
  • Repairing worn hinges, drawer runners or damaged carcasses as part of a respray - spraying refinishes doors and panels, it doesn't fix mechanical wear, though we'll flag anything that needs attention
  • Upgrading or replacing your main fuse board or consumer unit, if a full rewire needs more capacity than your existing supply provides
  • Flooring supply and fitting, unless it's agreed and priced in at the quotation stage
  • Appliance breakdowns or faults after handover - these sit with the manufacturer's warranty, not our installation guarantee
  • Planning permission or listed building consent applications, where your property needs them

How We Scope and Book In Whichever Service You Need

  1. Work out which service actually fits -- Not every kitchen needs a full replacement. At the first phone call or consultation, we talk through what's actually wrong with the kitchen - tired doors, a worktop that's stained or chipped, a layout that no longer works - and point you toward the service that matches it, rather than defaulting to a full quote.
  2. A consultation scoped to that job -- What we look at depends on the service. A respray means inspecting the cabinet carcasses for water damage or swelling before confirming the doors are a good candidate; a worktop swap means checking wall levelness and existing pipework; a full rebuild means a proper measure-up of the whole room.
  3. A written, fixed quotation for that work only -- The quotation covers exactly what's being done - a worktop or respray quote doesn't carry costs for strip-out or first-fix plumbing it doesn't need, and a full rebuild quote sets out every trade and material involved before anything is ordered.
  4. Materials or finishes ordered against your date -- Cabinetry and worktops are made to order once you've signed off the design; spray finishes are colour-matched, typically to a Farrow & Ball or Little Greene reference, and mixed ahead of the job.
  5. The work, carried out by the right specialists -- Cabinetry and joinery go to our City & Guilds-qualified joiners, worktops go to our dedicated fitting team who template on site, and resprays go to our spray technicians running airless equipment with dust-free extraction - not one fitter covering all three.
  6. Sign-off and guarantee paperwork -- Whatever the service, you get a walkthrough before we leave and your guarantee documents on the spot - 5 years on labour and installation, 2 years on products.

What Each Type of Job Tends to Cost

A respray or a worktop swap costs a good deal less than a full design, supply and installation project, simply because there's less material and fewer trades involved - a respray reuses your existing carcasses and doors, and a worktop swap doesn't touch plumbing or electrics unless the sink or hob position is moving. A full rebuild sits at the other end of the scale, priced on cabinetry, worktop material, and how much plumbing and electrical work the new layout actually needs. None of the three are priced off a single day rate, and design and project management costs are built into the quoted figure rather than added once the job's underway. The honest answer is that we can't give you a meaningful number for any of them without seeing the kitchen - cabinet condition matters for a respray, wall levelness matters for a worktop fit, and room shape and existing services matter for a full rebuild. A full, fixed quotation always follows a site visit, not a phone call.

The Same In-House Team, Whichever Service You Pick

Kitchen spraying is a different skill from cabinetmaking, and cutting a quartz worktop is a different skill again - a lot of companies who advertise all three are subcontracting at least one of them out. Ours is one in-house team split across those specialisms: qualified joiners for cabinetry, wardrobes and staircases, dedicated worktop fitters trained on laser templating, and spray technicians running airless equipment with dust-free extraction for resprays, all still working under the same project manager and the same registered business. Whichever of these you book, it's covered by the same guarantee, and the same free consultation and written quotation applies before you commit to anything - the service changes, the way we run the job doesn't.

Areas We Cover, From Knottingley Out Across the Wakefield District

We're based on Woodville Way in Knottingley and cover Wakefield as our main patch, along with Castleford, Featherstone, Normanton, Pontefract, Ossett, Crofton, Walton, Outwood, Stanley, Hemsworth, South Kirkby and Altofts, and we take on jobs further out across York, Leeds, Barnsley, Sheffield, Doncaster, Manchester and Rotherham. Wakefield itself throws up a real mix of kitchens, which is exactly why we run several different services rather than one. A lot of the Victorian terraces around the city centre have narrow galley kitchens with cabinets that are often still sound but visibly dated - good respray candidates rather than full rip-outs. Out towards the newer estate builds and 1930s semis on the edges of town, open-plan kitchen-diners are more common, and those jobs tend to be full rebuilds because the layout itself is changing. In the older stone-built properties further out toward Pontefract and Knottingley, walls are rarely square after a century or more of settling, which is exactly why we template worktops on site rather than off initial measurements - it's the only reliable way to get a tight joint against a wall that's moved over the years, whether that's part of a full rebuild or a standalone worktop swap.

Common Questions About Choosing a Kitchen Service

Can I book just one of these services rather than a full kitchen replacement?

Yes - a worktop swap, a respray, or bespoke joinery for another room are all booked and quoted as standalone jobs. You don't have to commit to a full design, supply and install project to use any of them; the consultation and quotation are simply scoped to whichever one you want.

How do I know whether my kitchen needs a respray or a full replacement?

It depends on the carcass, not just the doors. If the cabinet boxes are dry, square and free of water damage or swollen chipboard, spraying the doors, drawer fronts and end panels can look as good as new units for a fraction of the cost. If the carcasses themselves are damaged, out of square, or you want to change the layout, a respray won't fix that - we'll tell you honestly at the consultation whether your kitchen is a genuine respray candidate, rather than talk you into the cheaper option regardless.

Can you fit new worktops without touching my existing cabinets?

Yes - that's one of the more common single services we're asked for. We template the new worktop on site against your existing cabinets, cut it to fit, and fit it without touching the carcasses underneath. The one thing that can add cost is if your current sink or tap doesn't match the new material's cutout requirements - we check that at the templating visit, not after the worktop's been cut.

Does a respray look as good as a new door, and how long does the finish last?

A respray done properly - airless spraying with dust-free extraction and a proper primer and topcoat system - holds up well to daily kitchen use, close to a factory finish. It won't take the same abuse as a brand-new door indefinitely, and heavy chips or scratches will eventually show the substrate underneath, but for units that are structurally sound and just tired-looking, it's a genuine alternative to replacement, not a short-term cover-up.

Do you handle the plumbing and electrics yourselves, or is that subcontracted?

On a full installation, it's done in-house. Plumbing - sinks, taps, appliance connections - is carried out by plumbers holding NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds qualifications, and any lighting, power or ambient wiring is installed and safety-certified by Part P-registered electricians. Gas hobs and range cookers are installed and commissioned by Gas Safe registered engineers.

Will you remove and dispose of my old kitchen if I'm having a full replacement?

Yes, that's included as part of the strip-out stage on a full installation. We hold a registered waste carrier licence, so your old units and materials are removed and disposed of legally. It doesn't apply to a worktop-only or respray job, since nothing's being stripped out.

Can I use your fitting team but supply my own units?

It's possible and we'll price it on that basis, but the guarantee position changes - our installation guarantee covers our workmanship, but we can't guarantee units we haven't supplied or vouch for their manufacturing tolerances. We'll still tell you honestly at the quote stage if something you've bought is likely to cause a fitting problem, before we start rather than after.

Do I get the same guarantee whichever service I choose?

The principle is the same across all of them - our work is guaranteed - but what it covers is specific to the job. A full installation carries a 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and a 2-year guarantee on products; a worktop-only job is guaranteed on the fitting and the material supplied; a respray is guaranteed on the spray finish and workmanship. It's confirmed in writing at handover in every case.

How far in advance do I need to book, and does that differ between services?

Yes, quite a bit. A respray can often be booked in within a few weeks since there's no cabinetry to make to order. A worktop swap depends on the material - stone worktops are cut to order once templated, so there's a lead time between the templating visit and fitting. A full installation has the longest lead time of the three, since cabinetry, worktops and appliances are all ordered against a single fitting date once the design is signed off. We'll give you a realistic date for your specific service at the consultation rather than a rough guess.

Not Sure Which Kitchen Service You Need?

Whether that's a full replacement, new worktops, a respray, or bespoke joinery somewhere else in the house, the starting point is the same - book the free consultation, get a straight answer about what your kitchen actually needs, and a written quotation for that specific job. Nothing is ordered and no work is booked in until you've agreed the price and scope in writing.
