A new worktop is often the one change that makes a tired kitchen look and work like new, but only if it's cut to the room as it actually stands rather than to a drawing done weeks earlier. We don't template until your cabinets are fixed in place and level, because even a small discrepancy -- a wall a few millimetres out of square, a filler panel sitting proud, an appliance gap that's a shade tight -- shows up the day the slab goes down if nobody catches it first. Once the room is measured, we fabricate and fit in granite, quartz, marble, Dekton, Corian, Minerva or laminate, and our own plumbers and electricians reconnect the sink, tap, hob and any worktop lighting the same day, so you're not left waiting on a second company to come back and finish what we started. If the worktop is part of a wider refit, our bespoke kitchen design team can plan cabinetry and surfaces together from the outset, which avoids the common problem of a worktop being ordered against a layout that then changes part-way through the fit. If your units are staying and only need a refresh, our kitchen spraying service is worth comparing against a full worktop change -- sometimes the carcasses are sound and it's only the surface that looks tired, and sometimes it makes more sense to do both while the kitchen is already out of use. Either way, the decision usually comes down to what the cabinets underneath can actually take: sound, square carcasses in good condition are worth keeping and resurfacing, while units that are swelling at the base or racking out of square are better replaced properly rather than dressed up with a new surface on top.
Templating, Fabrication and Fitting: The Full Scope of the Job
- Laser templating carried out once your cabinets are fixed in place, so the worktop is cut to the room as it actually is, not to a drawing
- Fabrication and diamond-cutting of granite, marble, quartz, Dekton, Corian, Minerva or laminate to your chosen edge profile -- pencil round, bullnose, chamfered or a square arris
- Sink, hob and appliance cutouts machined to the exact make and model you're fitting, including undermount sink preparation and drainer grooves where specified
- Seamless jointing between slabs, edge polishing, and on-site sealing for materials that need it -- granite and marble are sealed, quartz and Dekton are not
- Upstands and matching splashback sections cut in the same material where specified, so the run reads as one continuous surface rather than a worktop against a mismatched tile or panel

- Removal and legal disposal of your old worktop under our registered waste carrier licence
- Coordination with our own in-house plumbers and electricians for tap, sink, hob and any under-cabinet or plinth lighting reconnection on installation day
Not Included / Costed Separately
- Structural work to walls, floors or cabinet carcasses needed to support a new worktop (island reinforcement, wall removal) -- priced separately once we've seen the site
- Gas hob and range cooker connection, which has to be carried out and certified by a Gas Safe registered engineer -- we arrange this as part of the job but it's costed against the appliance
- New cabinetry, where your existing units aren't strong enough to carry the chosen material -- quartz and granite are considerably heavier than laminate and some carcasses need reinforcing first
- Making good to walls or re-tiling disturbed when an old worktop is removed -- our own tilers and decorators can pick this up, but it's quoted separately once we've seen how much wall is affected
- Plumbing or wiring work beyond the sink, tap, hob and worktop lighting connection points -- moving a boiler, running a new circuit for an island, or extending a pipe run further than the original -- which we'll flag and price at the consultation if the site needs it
- Removal of hazardous materials such as an old asbestos-containing worktop or splashback found once the units come out -- our registered waste carrier licence covers standard worktop and cabinet waste, not licensed asbestos removal, so this would need a specialist contractor and would delay the fitting date

Seven Stages Between Your Enquiry and a Finished Worktop
- Free home consultation: We visit, measure the space, talk through material options and get a feel for the room before anything is costed.
- Written quotation and material choice: You get a written quotation covering material, edge profile and any structural or connection work the site needs, so there's nothing added once fabrication starts.
- Cabinet fit and site check: Where worktops form part of a wider kitchen job, units go in and are levelled first so the surface is templated to the finished room rather than a plan.
- Laser templating: Digital templating captures every wall, corner and appliance gap to millimetre accuracy, including the out-of-square walls common in older Leeds terraces.
- Fabrication: Slabs are cut, edge-profiled and any sink or hob cutouts machined off-site, typically over the following one to two weeks depending on material and order volume.
- Installation day: Our fitters bring the finished worktop in, join and seal it on site, then hand straight to our own plumbers and electricians for tap, sink and hob reconnection.
- Sign-off and aftercare: We walk the finished surface through with you before leaving. If anything settles or needs attention afterwards, it's covered by our labour and materials guarantee rather than a call-out fee.
Worktop Pricing in Leeds: Material, Size and Site Conditions
Cost is driven mainly by material -- laminate sits at the budget end, engineered quartz and Corian in the middle, and natural granite, marble, Dekton and Minerva at the premium end, though the exact figure depends on the specific slab and finish you pick rather than the material category alone. Run length and the number of joints matter too: a small galley kitchen with one straight run costs less to fabricate than an L-shaped or island layout with several mitred joints, and extras like waterfall edges, integrated drainer grooves, upstands or a matching splashback all add to the total.Site conditions play a part that's easy to overlook. Heavily out-of-square walls, an awkward access route for a large slab, or cabinets that need reinforcing before they can carry granite or quartz all affect labour time, and a Gas Safe hob connection is

costed against the appliance rather than the worktop. Because slab yield and cutting complexity vary from kitchen to kitchen, we don't put a figure on a job without seeing it -- our free home consultation includes a written quotation before any work is booked, so you know the full cost before you commit to a material. As a rough sense of scale rather than a quote: a single straight run in laminate for a small utility kitchen sits at the lower end of any worktop job we do, while a large quartz or granite island with a waterfall edge and multiple joints sits at the top, simply because there's more slab, more cutting and more fitting time involved. The written quotation you get after the consultation breaks the price down by material, fabrication and fitting, so you can see exactly what each part of the job costs rather than a single lump figure -- and if you're deciding between two materials, we'll quote both so you're comparing like for like.
Granite, Quartz, Marble, Dekton, Corian or Laminate: Which Suits Your Kitchen
| Material | Look | Heat & Scratch Resistance | Maintenance | Cost Tier | Typically Suits |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Granite | Natural stone, unique pattern in every slab | Very good -- copes with hot pans | Needs periodic resealing | Premium | Period properties, family kitchens wanting real stone |
| Quartz | Engineered, consistent colour across the run | Good for normal use, avoid direct high heat | Non-porous, wipe-clean, no sealing | Mid to premium | Busy family kitchens -- our most common Leeds install |
| Marble | Natural stone, distinctive veining | Softer and more porous than granite | Regular resealing, more careful cleaning needed | Premium | Feature islands and statement surfaces |
| Dekton | Ultra-compact sintered surface | Excellent -- handles very high heat | Very low, no sealing required | Premium | Contemporary kitchens with heavy daily use |
| Corian | Solid surface with seamless joins | Moderate -- can scorch under direct heat | Can be sanded and repaired if damaged | Mid | Integrated sinks and curved or seamless runs |
| Minerva | Solid surface, wide colour range | Moderate -- similar to Corian, avoid direct heat | Can be sanded and repaired like Corian | Mid | A Corian-style seamless finish at a lower price point |
| Laminate | Printed surface, widest colour range | Lower -- avoid placing hot pans directly | Wipe-clean, no sealing | Budget | Budget-conscious refits and rental kitchens |
The Same Crew From Template to Tap Connection
Worktop fitting is where a kitchen project succeeds or fails on millimetres, not inches -- a slab cut from a plan rather than the room as built shows up the moment a joint doesn't sit flush or a sink cutout is a shade off. That's why we template after your cabinets are already fixed and levelled, and why the same team that measures the room also cuts, fits and joins the slab, then hands straight to our own plumbers and electricians for tap, sink and hob reconnection on the same visit -- nobody is waiting on a second company to come back and finish what someone else started.Joinery and cabinetmaking is carried out by City & Guilds-qualified craftsmen, plumbing connections by plumbers holding NVQ Level 2 and City & Guilds qualifications, and any gas hob or range cooker connection by a Gas

Safe registered engineer -- every trade on site is qualified for the specific work they're doing, not a generalist covering several jobs at once. Your old worktop is removed and taken away under our registered waste carrier licence, so there's nothing left over for you to arrange separately, and every fitted worktop is backed by our 5-year guarantee on labour and installation and 2-year guarantee on the material itself. We're members of the Construction Industry Training Board and the Federation of Small Businesses, which is a smaller point than the qualifications above but a fair reflection of how the business is run -- a trade body member with staff coming through recognised training routes rather than picked up on an ad hoc basis. None of that replaces seeing the job done well, which is really the only test that matters, but it's the background against which we quote and fit every Leeds worktop.

Leeds Kitchens We've Fitted Worktops In, Suburb by Suburb
We fit worktops across Leeds and the towns and villages between Leeds and our Knottingley base, from Rothwell, Oulton and Garforth on the eastern side of the city through to Morley, Beeston and Middleton to the south -- a straightforward run down the M1/A639 corridor for our fitting team, and a route we cover regularly rather than as an occasional trip out. Leeds' housing stock varies street by street: the back-to-back and bay-fronted terraces around Beeston, Holbeck and Chapel Allerton tend to have narrower galley kitchens and out-of-square walls that need careful on-site templating rather than working from a plan, while newer developments around Leeds Dock and the Kirkstall regeneration area usually give squarer rooms but often call for larger island runs and longer worktop spans.Further out towards Cross Gates and Roundhay, larger 1930s semis often have a separate kitchen and
utility room, which usually means two shorter worktop runs rather than one continuous one, and access through a side passage rather than a front door -- something we check at the consultation so the fabricated slab is a size our fitters can actually get into the room. Wherever the job is in Leeds, templating, fabrication and fitting are handled by the same team, with our own plumbers and electricians reconnecting sinks, taps and hobs on installation day rather than leaving that to be arranged separately.Parking and access are worth mentioning too, since they affect how a job actually runs on the day rather than how it looks on paper. Terraced streets around Beeston and Holbeck are often permit-only or tightly parked, so we plan the fitting van's arrival time around that rather than turning up and hoping for a space outside; on the newer estates further out towards Stanks or Whinmoor, driveway parking makes carrying a large slab in far more straightforward. It's a small detail, but it's the kind of thing that decides whether installation day runs smoothly or starts with a delay before the slab's even out of the van.
Got Questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a worktop installation take once I've decided on a material?
Once you've chosen a material and we've templated the room, fabrication usually takes one to two weeks depending on the slab and how many orders are ahead of yours. Fitting itself is normally finished in a day for a standard run of units; a large island, multiple joints or a waterfall edge can add extra time on-site, and we'll give you a realistic estimate for your specific kitchen at the consultation rather than a generic figure.
Can I replace just the worktop without changing my cabinets?
In most cases yes, provided the existing units are sound, level and strong enough to carry the new material -- quartz and granite are considerably heavier than laminate, so some carcasses need reinforcing first. We check this at the free consultation before quoting, and if reinforcement is needed we'll price it separately rather than folding it into the worktop cost without you knowing.
What happens to my old worktop?
We remove it and take it away for legal disposal under our registered waste carrier licence, so there's nothing left for you to deal with. If your old worktop is being replaced as part of a wider refit, the same applies to any old cabinets or appliances coming out at the same time -- you shouldn't need to book a separate skip or waste collection around our visit.
Will you connect my new gas hob when you fit the worktop?
The cutout is machined to your hob's exact dimensions, but the gas connection itself has to be carried out and certified by a Gas Safe registered engineer -- we arrange this as part of the job, and it's costed against the appliance rather than included in the worktop price. Electrical hobs and induction hobs are connected by our own Part P-registered electricians on the same visit at no extra coordination cost.
Which worktop material is easiest to look after?
Quartz and Dekton are the lowest-maintenance choices -- both are non-porous and never need sealing, just a wipe down. Corian and Minerva are close behind, and any scratch or scorch mark can usually be sanded out rather than replaced. Granite and marble give you a natural stone look but need resealing from time to time to stay stain-resistant.
My kitchen has out-of-square walls -- can you still get a tight, straight-looking worktop fit?
That's exactly what laser templating is for. We measure the room as it actually is once cabinets are fixed in place, including any wall or corner that's out of true, so the worktop is scribed and cut to match rather than assuming everything is square. It's a common issue in older Leeds terraces and one our fitters deal with regularly, not an exception that needs special pricing.
Do I need to be in the house on installation day?
It helps if someone's available at the start and end of the day so we can walk the finished worktop through together, but you don't need to be there throughout -- our fitters, plumber and electrician work through the reconnection independently and will let you know if anything unexpected turns up. Where a job needs two visits -- for example a large island fabricated after a first-fix template -- we'll agree both dates with you up front rather than leaving the second one open-ended.
What guarantee comes with a new worktop?
Installation and labour are covered by a 5-year guarantee, and the material itself carries a 2-year guarantee. Natural stone products like granite and marble will vary slightly in pattern from slab to slab, which is normal and isn't something a guarantee covers.
What's the practical difference between quartz and Dekton, and how do I choose?
Both are engineered surfaces that don't need sealing, but Dekton is a sintered material made under extreme heat and pressure, which makes it more heat- and scratch-resistant than quartz and better suited to a busy kitchen where pans go straight from hob to surface. Quartz has a slightly softer, more traditional stone-like finish and a wider range of price points, which is why it's still our most common install. If heat resistance next to the hob is your main concern, Dekton is worth the extra; if you want a stone look at a lower cost, quartz usually wins.
Will the price on my written quotation change once fitting starts?
No -- the quotation we give you after the home consultation covers material, fabrication and fitting based on what we've seen and measured, and that's the figure the job is priced against. The only time a cost changes is if something only becomes visible once the old worktop or units come out, such as a carcass that isn't strong enough to carry the new material or a wall that's more out of true than expected -- and even then we'll talk you through it and agree a price before doing anything, rather than presenting you with a bill after the fact.
Start With a Free Template and Written Quote
Fabrication usually takes one to two weeks once a slab is ordered, so the sooner your kitchen is templated, the sooner your new worktop is fitted and ready to use. A home consultation costs nothing and comes with a written quotation before anything's booked in, covering granite, quartz, marble, Dekton, Corian, Minerva and laminate options side by side, along with an honest view on whether your existing cabinets can carry the material you have in mind. If you're weighing up a full worktop change against a spray refresh of your existing units, ask us about both at the same visit -- there's no charge either way, and no pressure to book on the day.
